This instrument was used by the Saffron Walden cadet corps. It is a military side drum with a plain brass shell, wooden counterhoops, 15-inch skin heads, and rope-tensioned with metal hooks and wing-nut rods (six in total). There is a J-hook screw style snare strainer made of iron alloy (snares missing), and a metal leg rest attached to the snare counterhoop.
