Getting Digital Content Online - The Harvesting Process

In order to enable digital content to be harvested by MIMO, museums must ensure that their systems are compatible with those used by the original members of the project consortium.

MIMO stores its records on a repository held by Cite de la musique in Paris, which we refer to as MIMO-DB, and from there information is harvested by Europeana. To enable this, each museum must have its own database which can be harvested using OAI-Protocol. Records must be mapped to the MIMO-DB data model using ICOM's LIDO XML Schema for museum data interchange.
